‘Lets balance our Inner night and day.
Lets use our darkness to become the most magical light.’
Roxanna Jones
Autumn Equinox 2022 arrives at 02:03 GMT on 23rd September – Traditionally this is the time of summer’s end, harvest, a time to celebrate our achievements and give thanks to the Earth for her abundance.
Autumn Equinox is when day and night are equal, where we can experience balance as we connect with our inner selves. As the sun starts to lower in the sky and the nights draw in, the solar energy that charged us throughout the summer is reducing. We now need to start turning inwards for our strength, courage and wisdom.
The change in the season give us the chance to start again, we could use this time to release the past and move forward with a clarity as we begin to slow down and prepare our self for the inward time of winter.
This is also a time for longer term planning and nurturing. The seeds of ideas, hopes and dreams that we plant now will re-emerge in the spring, strengthened and consolidated by their time in the dark and stabilised by their strong roots.
In our gardens at this time of year, we prune and cut back, clearing away all the old growth that has finished, so the plants can consolidate their strength for the winter. This also encourages new growth in the spring.
In our lives, too, it is a good time to make decisions about what we want to give priority to, what to cut back and what to strengthen. Clear out what is no longer helping you – outworn modes of behaviours, old patterns, habits that are holding you back and the physical things associated with them. Clearly and with gratitude, make a statement of intent to cut these things out of your life. Visualise cutting yourself free of them. Focus on the new shoots that will grow from these actions.
